- If new patient, bring previous mammogram films and report
- Please wear two piece clothing
- Do not schedule one week before menstrual period
The technologist will show you to a private dressing room, hand you a robe and ask you to remove everything above your waist.
What happens after getting a mammogram?
All mammography facilities are now required to send your results to you within 30 days. You will be contacted within 5 working days if there is a problem with the mammogram. You will be notified personally if there is a breast tissue abnormality in your mammogram. Only one or two mammograms out of every 1,000 lead to a diagnosis of breast cancer. Approximately 10% of women will require additional mammography. Don't be alarmed if this happens to you. Only 8%-10% of those women will need a biopsy, and most of those biopsies will not be cancer.
When will I get the mammogram results and how?
In general, results are available to your referring physician within 5 days.
